NOT A CHAPTER - Status Report

Chapter 15 is on it's way, I promise.  I've written pretty much the whole chapter except one part.  Sadly, Harry and Draco are NOT cooperating.  I've written their encounter about 5 times...

Tp help you forgive me for being so slow posting chapters, I thought I'd let you know what's been going on in my life...

I started refinancing my house in October.  It finally closed in April.  Part of that is going to pay for work being done on my house: wiring the garage for electricity, painting the house and repairing the squirrel-eaten trim, etc.

My job changed in February.  The old job taking calls at a help desk got bid out to a single vendor... I applied to that vendor and got accepted, but right about then I got an opportunity to advance.  I ended up applying for a new job, as a computer help desk manager.  Now, instead of being able to write between calls, I have to lead by example, and get stuff ready for the team.  It is a brand new service desk, and I am creating all the procedures.  Working on average 10 hours a day, sometimes 12 or more.

Got a crown (tooth) in March.

I changed roommates in April.  My new roommate is great, but another transition.

All of that, doing my taxes, dealing with health care, etc.

I stopped writing for about a month, but am writing again, making progress. 

Now, rather than take up time and space in this venue, I've decided to create a twitter account for those who want updates on where I am in the chapter, or what I'm struggling with, or RL stuff as it relates or hinders the writing.  If you don't care about that, you can stay here and get only the chapters.  If you like updates, I'll do my best to keep you apprised of progress.

Ooh, thanks for posting this. I didn't check my friends list for a while, and just the other day I whacked my self upside the head and thought "Oh my goodness, what if Imuptonogood updated her most wonderful story." Glad to know we are close to a new chapter, and the Twitter won't help me a bit... I am finding I am internet stuff challenged. I am being forced, forced I tell you, to get a facebook account just to keep up with what my grown kids are doing and I'm not happy about it. I'll need to figure out how to do--gasp--picture posting on the internet. ;-)

It sounds like your life has been crazy for a while. Glad you could still find a spark for writing.

I know! I was given permission to steal it from someone a couple years ago and even begged my oldest son to help me figure out how to load it to my account. I've never seen another I loved enough to go through the trauma for again. ;-)

Okay! I am trying to be patient and not be a horrible fan and BEG, but is there any hope of the new chapter?? I have now read so much fanfiction that I am starving for an actual GOOD story. And yours is one of the deepest and most literate I am following--one of about 10 I really care about the next update for and would be very sad if one never appeared. ;-)

Oh! It makes me so happy that you continue to think of my story. I promise I am writing the chapter... Harry and Draco are being incredibly frustrating, and won't have the kind of conversation I wanted them to. They keep balking at saying anything beyond: "Malfoy." "Potter."

Stubborn, stubborn boys.

What is even more frustrating, is that after this chapter and the next, I have several chapters written and waiting (needing beta and consistency check, but mostly done.

Please forgive me for being so slow... And do not hesitate to let me know you are thinking of the story. It inspires me to write, knowing that someone is on the other end, wanting to read it.

Oh, that is just SO funny. I always get a kick when authors talk about their recalcitrant characters--and I can just see the boys doing it just to irritate you. Now, who can you go to in order to smack some sense into their heads?? Well, good luck with them, and I'm happy to know that I can expect a lot of great material coming once you get them to cooperate!

Speaking from personal experience I'd rather you'd still have your job. I wouldn't mind going with you to your job and write down everything you dictate.
That way you could continue the story and have a job.

I'm glad you can see the Silver Linings. It's a nice thing for us, but as treehouse said, I would prefer you to have kept the job if you wanted it. But it sounds like you have mixed feelings. Way more than 40 hours is tough!
